As I drive along Highway 285, passing right by the exit for C-470, I am immediately enveloped by the rock faces on either side of my car. My shoulders relax, dropping down away from my ears. My breath grows slower, deeper as I enter Denver's foothills and say goodbye to the city, if only for an hour or two.&

I zoomed up to Denver and bought a house that was vacant and available just as quickly. Unfortuantely, the hosue was sold by an unscrupulous realtor who also owned it and was flipping it from a previous foreclosure. I didn't know until after I closed and moved in that she had "remodeled" with substandard materials, unlicensed contractors, and very poor workmanship.

If you are trying to "declutter" your home this New Year, here are some ideas for finding a suitable, loving home for items you are ready to part with:
* Is there a museum that might be interested in your items? Maybe you know an individual who collects what you are ready to part with. Ask them if they would like your items.
* Check with a local university or library. They might be interested in your items for one of their collections.
