One sunny day last week I chopped up some mango and apples, tossed plates and napkins into a bag, bought a bucket of bagels and went to pick my son up from preschool.  We had planned an after school picnic with another family and then a third family joined us.  The kids played, climbing, sliding, chasing each other with shrill squeals.  We mothers stood nearby and talked.  My two lunch companions were Mexican women who felt more comfortable talking in Spanish so we mostly spoke in Spanish.  I must have been moving slow in my Spanish to English
