Speaking My Mind: Authenticity and the Inner Dialogue

Recently some friends and I were discussing the great difficulty of translating Orson Scott Card's science fiction novel Ender's Game into a film. After years of negotiations and editing it seems Card still isn't close to a satisfactory screenplay. It is no wonder, however, for a book that relies on extensive internal monologues to illustrate the deep internal conflict between dark and light so

The Intimate Tension of Being Present

How ironic that even in a recession many of us still live with affluence and find ourselves longing for less.  Often in a world full of endless opportunities we are searching for ways to cut back on activities, to create margins, to reduce stress and to simply be present to the moment. The Joy of Simplicity Now! Opened the Door to My Home

Three years ago, I accepted a new job in Denver.  Fantastic luck, my house sold quickly and the buyer wanted to move in within three weeks.  I zoomed up to Denver and bought a house that was vacant and available just as quickly.  Unfortuantely, the hosue was sold by an unscrupulous realtor who also owned it and was flipping it from a previous foreclosure.  I didn't know until

Creating a Simple Home in Just 10 Minutes a Day

A crisis or another form of intense "discomfort" is often the catalyst for  making changes in our lives, but that need not be the only time that we turn our attention towards simplifying our homes and work spaces.  Instead, we can choose to spend 10-15 minutes a day decluttering and organizing something in our homes, offices, or vehicles. These 15 minutes will equate to over 45 HOURS
